​स्विगी और फोनपे में साझेदारी
  • भारत के अग्रणी डिजिटल भुगतान प्लेटफ़ॉर्म फोनपे ने अपने स्विच प्लेटफ़ॉर्म पर खाद्य वितरण प्रमुख स्विगी को एकीकृत किया है।
  • इस साझेदारी के साथ, फोनपे के 200 मिलियन पंजीकृत उपयोगकर्ता अब स्विगी ऐप का उपयोग कर सकते हैं और फोनपे ऐप से अपना पसंदीदा भोजन ऑर्डर कर सकते हैं।
  • यह सेवा उन सभी 520 शहरों में उपलब्ध होगी, जहाँ स्विगी भारत में भोजन वितरित करती है।
​बंसीलाल भट: NCLAT4 के अध्यक्ष
  • सरकार ने जस्टिस बंसीलाल भट को नेशनल कंपनी लॉ अपीलेट ट्रिब्यूनल (NCLAT) का कार्यवाहक अध्यक्ष नियुक्त किया है।
  • NCLAT के अध्यक्ष न्यायमूर्ति सुधांशु ज्योति मुखोपाध्याय 13 मार्च 2020 को सेवानिवृत्त हुए।
  • जस्टिस भट की नियुक्ति 15 मार्च 2020 से तीन महीने की अवधि या नियमित अध्यक्ष नियुक्त होने तक या अगले आदेशों तक के लिए है।
​39वीं GST काउंसिल की बैठक
  • 39वीं GST काउंसिल की बैठक 14 मार्च, 2020 को दिल्ली में आयोजित की गई थी।
  • केंद्रीय वित्त मंत्री निर्मला सीतारमण ने विज्ञान भवन में बैठक की अध्यक्षता की।
  • GST परिषद ने GST नेटवर्क पोर्टल पर परिचालन खामियों पर चर्चा की।
  • उन्होंने राजस्व संग्रह बढ़ाने और कर चोरी से बचने के विभिन्न तरीकों पर भी चर्चा की।
  • जुलाई 2020 तक इन्फोसिस द्वारा एक बेहतर GSTN प्रणाली सुनिश्चित की जानी चाहिए।
आर.के. सिंह ने लॉन्च की एक वेबसाइट
  • कौशल विकास और उद्यमिता राज्य मंत्री आर.के. सिंह ने नई और नवीकरणीय ऊर्जा मंत्रालय की नई वेबसाइट लॉन्च की।
  • वेबसाइट की मुख्य विशेषता में अनुकूलित यूजर इंटरफेस, थ्री-क्लिक इंटरफेस, रूबिक्स क्यूब स्ट्रक्चर और इंप्रूव्ड सर्च विकल्प शामिल हैं।
  • इसमें अतिरिक्त पोर्टल जैसे ‘अक्षय उर्जा पोर्टल’ और ‘इंडिया रिन्यूएबल आइडिया एक्सचेंज’ (IRIX) हैं।
पानी में फैल सकते हैं​ प्लास्टिक के कण
  • सबसे अधिक इस्तेमाल होने वाले प्लास्टिक के अत्यंत छोटे कण पानी की आपूर्ति के माध्यम से चलते हैं, विशेष रूप से ताजे पानी में, अपशिष्ट जल उपचार संयंत्रों में जमा हो जाते हैं, या लैंडफिल में कीचड़ के रूप में जमा होते हैं।
  • यह अध्ययन जल शोध पत्रिका में प्रकाशित हुआ था।
  • माइक्रो प्लास्टिक के लगभग आठ खरब टुकड़े अपशिष्ट जल उपचार संयंत्रों से होकर जलीय वातावरण में मिल जाते हैं।
​यस बैंक होगा निफ्टी 50 से बाहर
  • तनावग्रस्त निजी ऋणदाता यस बैंक को बेंचमार्क इंडेक्स निफ्टी 50, बैंकिंग इंडेक्स निफ्टी बैंक और अन्य निफ्टी सूचकांकों से 19 मार्च, 2020 से हटा दिया जाएगा।
  • श्री सीमेंट, निफ्टी 50 में यस बैंक की जगह लेगा और निफ्टी बैंक इंडेक्स में बंधन बैंक को जगह मिलेगी।
  • यस बैंक को निफ्टी 100 और निफ्टी 500 से भी हटाया जाएगा।
​ सरकार ने पेट्रोल, डीजल पर बढ़ाया उत्पाद शुल्क
  • पेट्रोल और डीजल पर उत्पाद शुल्क में 3 रुपये प्रति लीटर की बढ़ोतरी की गई क्योंकि सरकार ने अंतरराष्ट्रीय तेल की कीमतों में गिरावट से उठने वाले लाभ को कम करने की कोशिश की।
  • पेट्रोल पर विशेष उत्पाद शुल्क 2 से 8 रुपये प्रति लीटर और डीजल के मामले में 4 रुपये प्रति लीटर बढ़ाया गया।
  • इसके अतिरिक्त, पेट्रोल और डीजल पर उपकर 1 रुपये प्रति लीटर बढ़ कर 10 रुपये किया गया ।
​नीयू: विश्व का पहला ‘डार्क स्काई’ राष्ट्र
  • इंटरनेशनल डार्क-स्काई एसोसिएशन (IDA) ने घोषणा की है कि छोटा नीयू द्वीप देश विश्व का पहला डार्क स्काई राष्ट्र बन जाएगा।
  • सिर्फ 101 वर्ग मील लम्बे नीयू को एक डार्क स्काई अभयारण्य और एक डार्क स्काई समुदाय दोनों के रूप में प्रमाणन प्राप्त हुआ है।
  • नीयू दक्षिण प्रशांत महासागर में एक छोटा सा द्वीप राष्ट्र है।
  • इसकी आबादी सिर्फ 1600 लोगों की है।
राष्ट्रीय टीकाकरण दिवस: 16 मार्च मार्च
  • हर वर्ष 16 मार्च को भारत में राष्ट्रीय टीकाकरण दिवस मनाया जाता है जिसे नेशनल इम्म्युनाईजेशन डे (IMD) भी कहा जाता है।
  • यह पहली बार 16 मार्च 1995 को मनाया गया था जब ओरल पोलियो वैक्सीन की पहली खुराक दी गई थी।
  • यह ग्रह पृथ्वी से पोलियो उन्मूलन के लिए जागरूकता बढ़ाने का प्रयास है।
​उत्तराखंड में शुरू हुआ “फूल देई” त्योहार
  • उत्तराखंड में ‘फूल देई’ त्यौहार या फूल संक्रांति त्योहार को वसंत के मौसम का स्वागत करने के लिए मनाया जा रहा  है।
  • यह पहाड़ी त्योहार उत्तराखंड के कुमाऊं और गढ़वाल क्षेत्रों में मकर संक्रांति के दौरान धूमधाम से मनाया जाता है।
  • फूल देई चैत्र के पहले दिन या मार्च के मध्य में (ग्रेगोरियन कैलेंडर के अनुसार) मनाया जाता है।
पौधों में संचार नेटवर्क की खोज
  • अमेरिका में शोधकर्ताओं ने पौधों में एक संचार नेटवर्क की खोज की है जो उन्हें कीट प्रतिरोध में शामिल एक हार्मोन की प्रतिक्रिया  देने में मदद करता है।
  • यह उन फसलों को विकसित करने में मदद कर सकता है जो कीट के हमलों का सामना कर सकते हैं।
  • जर्नल ‘नेचर प्लांट्स’ में प्रकाशित इस अध्ययन में पाया गया कि जस्मोनिक एसिड नामक हार्मोन विशेष रूप से कवक और कीड़ों के खिलाफ पौधे की रक्षा प्रतिक्रिया के लिए महत्वपूर्ण है।
यस बैंक ने दी 18,564 करोड़ रुपये के नुकसान की सूचना
  • यस बैंक ने खातों पर मृत संपत्ति की उच्च मान्यता और बड़े पूंजीपतियों के टूटने की कगार पर होने के कारण दिसंबर तिमाही के लिए 18,654-करोड़ रुपये के नुकसान की सूचना दी है।
  • 31 दिसंबर, 2019 तक सकल गैर-निष्पादित परिसंपत्तियां 40,709 करोड़ रुपये या 18.87 प्रतिशत संपत्ति हैं।
  • सितम्बर और दिसंबर 2019 के बीच 1,65,000 करोड़ रुपये के डिपॉजिट में 44,000 करोड़ रुपये से अधिक की गिरावट हुई थी।
जम्मू कश्मीर में शुरू प्रयोगशाला परीक्षण सुविधाएं
  • जम्मू और कश्मीर में, संघ शासित प्रदेश प्रशासन ने शेर-ए-कश्मीर इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ मेडिकल साइंसेज (SKIMS), सौरा, श्रीनगर और गवर्नमेंट मेडिकल कॉलेज, जम्मू में प्रयोगशाला परीक्षण सुविधाएं शुरू की हैं।
  • इसके अलावा, किसी भी तरह की संभावना को पूरा करने के लिए सभी जिलों में निगरानी टीमों का गठन किया गया है।
  • NHM द्वारा नगरोटा में संघ शासित प्रदेश स्तर का नियंत्रण कक्ष स्थापित किया गया है।
मणिपुर मुख्यमंत्री ने की एक योजना की घोषणा
  • मणिपुर के मुख्यमंत्री एन. बिरेन सिंह ने राज्य के खिलाड़ियों और कलाकारों के कल्याण के लिए सबसे बड़ी योजना की घोषणा की।
  • ‘मुख्यमंत्री के अखनाबा सनाराइजिंग जी टेंगबंग (CMAST)’और मुख्यमंत्री कलाकार सिंग जी तेंगबांग (CMAT)’ योजनाएं हैं।
  • CMAST के तहत, सरकार की सेवाओं में उन खिलाड़ियों को रोजगार दिया जाएगा, जिन्होंने चयनित अंतर्राष्ट्रीय खेल प्रतियोगिताओं में पदक जीते हैं।
अचंता कमल ने जीता पुरुष एकल खिताब
  • अचंता शरथ कमल ने ITTF चैलेंजर प्लस ओमान ओपन जीता।
  • उन्होंने 15 मार्च 2020 को मस्कट में खेले गए फाइनल में पुर्तगाल के शीर्ष वरीयता प्राप्त मार्कोस फ्रीटास को 4-2 से हराया।
  • इससे पहले, सेमीफाइनल में, चौथी वरीयता प्राप्त अचंता ने रूस की किरिल स्चकोवको के खिलाफ 11-13, 11-13, 13-11, 11-9, 13-11, 8-11, 11 -7 से शानदार जीत दर्ज की।
ताई त्ज़ु यिंग ने जीता तीसरा महिला एकल खिताब
  • बैडमिंटन में, ताइवान की शटलर ताई त्ज़ु यिंग ने 15 मार्च 2020 को यूनाइटेड किंगडम के बर्मिंघम में ऑल इंग्लैंड चैंपियनशिप का अपना तीसरा महिला एकल खिताब जीता।
  • यिंग ने चीन के चेन युफेई को 44 मिनट में दो सीधे गेमों में 21-19, 21-15 से हराया।
  • इससे पहले पुरुष एकल में डेनमार्क के विक्टर एक्सेलसेन ने दो सीधे गेमों 21-13, 21-14 में ताइवान के चो तिएन-चेन को पछाड़ा।
दक्षिण अफ्रीका ने की राष्ट्रीय आपदा की घोषणा
  • ​दक्षिण अफ्रीका ने कोरोनोवायरस संकट पर राष्ट्रीय आपदा की घोषणा की है क्योंकि देश में संक्रमित लोगों की संख्या बढ़कर 61 हो गई है।
  • दक्षिण अफ्रीका में संक्रमण की संख्या 37 नए मामलों के साथ सप्ताहांत में दोगुनी हो कर कुल 61 हो गई।
  • मिस्र के बाद अफ्रीका दूसरे सबसे अधिक मामलों वाला देश है, जिसने अब तक 110 रिपोर्ट की है।
अमेरिकी फेडरल रिजर्व ने प्रमुख ब्याज दर को घटाया
  • अमेरिकी फेडरल रिजर्व ने नए कोरोनोवायरस के बढ़ते आर्थिक प्रभाव की प्रतिक्रिया में महत्वपूर्ण ब्याज दर को लगभग शून्य कर दिया।
  • फेड ने दो सप्ताह से भी कम समय में अपनी दूसरी आपातकालीन दर में कटौती की, बेंचमार्क ऋण दर को 0-0.25 प्रतिशत की सीमा तक घटा दिया।
  • 2008 के वैश्विक वित्तीय संकट के दौरान यह दर पहले इस स्तर पर थी।
मोबाइल फोन पर GST की दरों में वृद्धि
  • गुड्स एंड सर्विसेज टैक्स काउंसिल ने 1 अप्रैल 2020 से मोबाइल फोन पर GST दरों को 12 फीसदी से बढ़ाकर 18 फीसदी करने का फैसला किया है।
  • परिषद ने विमान के रखरखाव, मरम्मत और कायापलट सेवाओं पर GST को 12 प्रतिशत से घटाकर 5 प्रतिशत करने का भी निर्णय लिया।
  • हस्तनिर्मित और मशीन से निर्मित माचिस की कर दर को 12 प्रतिशत तक तर्कसंगत बनाया गया है।
विदेश मंत्रालय ने की एक विशेष प्रकोष्ठ की स्थापना
  • विदेश मंत्रालय ने विश्व भर में 5,000 से अधिक जान लेने वाले  कोरोनावायरस से संबंधित मुद्दों के समन्वय के लिए एक विशेष सेल का गठन किया है।
  • COVID-19 की प्रतिक्रिया के समन्वय के लिए दम्मू रवि को केंद्र  व्यक्ति के रूप में नियुक्त किया गया है।
  • विदेश मंत्री एस. जयशंकर और विदेश सचिव हर्षवर्धन श्रृंगला भी व्यक्तिगत रूप से स्थिति की निगरानी कर रहे हैं।

Swiggy and PhonePe partnered
  • India’s leading digital payments platform PhonePe has integrated food delivery major Swiggy on its Switch platform.
  • With this partnership, PhonePe’s 200 million registered users can now access the Swiggy app and order their favourite food from within the PhonePe app itself.
  • The service will be available across all 520 cities where Swiggy delivers food in India.
Bansi Lal Bhat: Chairperson of NCLAT
  • The government has appointed Justice Bansi Lal Bhat as the officiating chairperson of the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT).
  • NCLAT Chairperson Justice Sudhansu Jyoti Mukhopadhaya retired on 13 March 2020.
  • The appointment of Justice Bhat is for a period of three months with effect from 15 March 2020 or until a regular Chairperson is appointed or until further orders.
The 39th GST Council meeting held
  • The 39th GST Council meeting was held in Delhi on March 14, 2020. 
  • Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman chaired the meeting at Vigyan Bhawan.
  • GST Council discussed operational glitches on the GST Network portal.
  • They also discussed different ways to increase revenue collection and to avoid tax evasion.
  • A better GSTN system should be ensured by Infosys by July 2020.
RK Singh launched a website
  • Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship RK Singh launched the new website of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.
  • The key feature of the website includes optimized user interface, three-click interfaces, rubik’s cube structure, and improvised search options. 
  • It has additional portals such as ‘Akshay Urja Portal’ and ‘India Renewable Idea Exchange’ (IRIX).
Plastic particles may be prevalent in water
  • Ultra small particles of the most commonly used plastics tend to move through the water supply, especially in fresh water, settle out in wastewater treatment plants, or end up as sludge in landfills.
  • This study was published in the journal Water Research.
  • Every day about eight trillion pieces of micro plastics go through wastewater treatment plants and end up in the aquatic environment.
Yes Bank to be excluded from Nifty 50
  • Troubled private lender Yes Bank will be dropped from benchmark index Nifty 50, banking index Nifty bank and other Nifty indices from March 19, 2020. 
  • Shree Cement will replace Yes Bank in Nifty 50 and in Nifty bank index, Bandhan Bank will find a place.
  • Yes Bank will also be removed from Nifty 100 and Nifty 500.
Govt hikes excise duty on petrol, diesel
  • Excise duty on petrol and diesel was hiked by Rs 3 per litre as the government looked to mop up gains arising from fall in international oil prices.
  • Special excise duty on petrol was hiked by Rs 2 to Rs 8 per litre in case of petrol and to Rs 4 in case of diesel.
  • Additionally, road cess on petrol was raised by Rs 1 per litre each on petrol and diesel to Rs 10.
Niue: World’s first ‘Dark Sky nation’
  • The International Dark-Sky Association (IDA) has announced that the tiny island nation of Niue will become the world’s first Dark Sky Nation.
  • At just 101 square miles, Niue has received certification as both a dark sky sanctuary and a dark sky community.
  • Niue is a small island nation in the South Pacific Ocean.
  • It has a population of just 1600 people.
National Vaccination Day: 16th March
  • On 16 March every year, National Vaccination Day is observed in India which is also known as National Immunisation Day (IMD).
  • It was first observed on 16 March 1995 when the first dose of Oral Polio Vaccine was given.
  • It is an attempt to increase awareness for the eradication of polio from the planet earth.
“Phool Dei” festival began in Uttarakhand
  • Uttarakhand celebrates its Phool Sankranti festival popularly known as the ‘Phool Dei’ festival to welcome the season of spring. 
  • This Pahari festival is celebrated with pomp and show during Makar Sankranti in the Kumaon and Garhwal regions of Uttarakhand.
  • Phool Dei is celebrated on the first day of Chaitra or in mid-March (according to Gregorian calendar). 
Communication network in plants discovered
  • Researchers in the US have discovered a communication network in plants that helps them respond to a hormone involved in pest resistance.
  • This may help develop crops that can withstand insect attacks.
  • The study, published in the journal ‘Nature Plants’, observed that the hormone called jasmonic acid is particularly important for a plant’s defense response against fungi and insects.
Yes Bank reported Rs 18,564 crore loss
  • YES Bank has reported a staggering Rs 18,654-cr loss for the December quarter due to higher recognition of dead assets on the books, and an erosion of capital buffers to the brink.
  • The gross non-performing assets shot-up to Rs 40,709 cr or 18.87 percent of assets as of December 31, 2019,
  • There had been an over Rs 44,000-crore dip in its deposits between Sept and Dec 2019 to Rs 1,65,000 cr.
UT Admin in J&K starts lab testing facilities
  • In Jammu and Kashmir, the UT Administration has started lab testing facilities at Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Soura, Srinagar and Government Medical College, Jammu.
  • Besides, surveillance teams have been constituted across all districts to meet any kind of eventuality.
  • UT level Control Room has been established by NHM at Nagrota.
Manipur CM announced a scheme
  • Manipur CM N. Biren Singh announced the biggest ever scheme for the welfare of sportspersons and artists of the State.
  • ‘Chief Minister’s Akhannaba Sanaroising gi Tengbang (CMAST)’ and Chief Minister Artist Sing gi Tengbang (CMAT)’ are the schemes.
  • Under the CMAST, employment in govt services will be provided to sportspersons, who have won medals in selected International Sports events.
Achanta Kamal clinched men’s singles title
  • Achanta Sharath Kamal won the ITTF Challenger Plus Oman Open.
  • He beat top-seeded Marcos Freitas of Portugal 4-2 in the final played in Muscat on 15 March 2020.
  • Earlier, in the semi-final, fourth-seeded Achanta pulled off a stunning seven-set victory against Russia’s Kirill Skachkov, 11-13, 11-13, 13-11, 11-9, 13-11, 8-11, 11-7.
Tai Tzu Ying won 3rd women’s singles title
  • In Badminton, Taiwan’s shuttler Tai Tzu Ying clinched her third women’s singles title of the All England Championships at Birmingham in United Kingdom on 15 March 2020.
  • Ying beat China’s Chen Yufei in two straight games 21-19, 21-15 in 44 minutes.
  • Earlier in the men’s singles, Denmark’s Victor Axelsen outclassed Taiwan’s Chou Tien-Chen in two straight games 21-13, 21-14.
S. Africa announced National State of Disaster
  • South Africa has announced a National State of Disaster over the coronavirus crisis as the number of infected people in the country has risen to 61.
  • The number of infections in South Africa doubled over the weekend with 37 new cases, taking the total to 61.
  • This makes it the country with the second-highest number of cases in Africa after Egypt, which has reported 110 so far.
US Federal Reserve slashed key interest rate
  • The US Federal Reserve slashed the key interest rate to virtually zero in response to the growing economic impact of the New Coronavirus.
  • The Fed made its second emergency rate cut in less than two weeks, cutting the benchmark borrowing rate to a range of 0-0.25 percent.
  • The rate was previously at this level during the 2008 global financial crisis.
GST rates on mobile phones to increase
  • The Goods and Services Tax Council has decided to increase GST rates on mobile phones to 18 per cent from 12 per cent with effect from 1 April 2020.
  • The Council also decided to slash GST on maintenance, repair and overhaul services for aircraft to 5 per cent from 12 per cent.
  • The tax rate on handmade and machine-made matchsticks has been rationalized to 12 per cent.
External Affairs Mnstry set up a special cell
  • The Ministry of External Affairs has set up a special cell to coordinate the issues related to the coronavirus that has claimed more than 5,000 lives worldwide.
  • Dammu Ravi has been appointed as the point person coordinating the response to COVID-19.
  • External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla are also personally monitoring the situation.
